road-race

Antrim Township, PA:  On Sunday, May 5, 2024, the Antietam Velo Club will be hosting a “Greencastle Road Race” style event in the northeast section of the Township.  Participants will be arriving and departing from a parking area located behind Manitowoc Cranes.

The event will take place between 8 AM and 2 PM, with traffic impacted between the hours of 7 AM and 4 PM.  Motorists will still be able to travel in that area; however, they will encounter detours and flaggers.  We advise residents and motorists to expect some delays.  Antrim Township, Rescue Hose Company Fire Police, and event organizers have measures in place to protect participants, volunteers, and motorists.

Course information:  The course will cover portions of Long Lane, Phillippy Road, Grindstone Hill Road, Hades Church Road, and Burkholder Road.  Race participants are instructed to utilize the right lane of travel during the race; however, because of intersections and turns, motorists are encouraged to give participants plenty of space.  Motorists will also notice many support vehicles and personnel along the course.

For more information on road detours and logistics, please contact Chris Ardinger, Administrator/Roadmaster for Antrim Township at 717-597-3818, ext. 103 or cardinger@twp.antrim.pa.us.  For more information on the event, please contact Joseph Jefferson at 301-331-1129 or max41265@yahoo.com.  You can also find “Antietam Velo Club” on Facebook.  Course information can be found at: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44141350.
